“Modicum” by Patricia Rhees

Modicum

A tiny bit of perfection

A small amount of something special

Modicum

A little bit of honey

Not the kind you eat

The kind you receive

In small sweet surprises

The small smile returned

By a child

Looking over its Mother’s

Shoulder

The dance

In the sunrise

On the hill

When you are unexpectedly joined

By your son-in-law

You son telling you

After a heartfelt conversation

You’ve still got it

Mom

A daughter

Spouting back to you

The words of wisdom

You thought she never heard

Honey

A modicum of sweet

Loving honey

The kind that you feel

But it catches you

Off guard
