The most unselfish gift is saying good-bye to a pet who is terminally ill
If they could talk, they would tell you how awful they feel
Not physically with pain, but for letting you down
Unconditional love can come from canine or feline or ferret
The strength is deep
Humans can (always) learn from our animal friends’ psyche
It is a very selfish thing to make them hold on–for you–for the human
Sure it hurts, we feel empty, and we search for them, wanting to hear their voice
We want to step over their centrally resting body in the kitchen or when getting out of the shower
Letting them go is the kindest act
We should treat our humans with such respect
